I'm sure Shane Stallcup will disagree but I'll ramble on anyway. I have some
medallion sheeting. It was very expensive to purchase and I only bought one
package to serve as a sample. It appears to be the same material as zing
wing marketed by John Betts except that it is slightly heavier. I have a bag
full of poly band material that I scavenged from a tire warehouse, it came
in several colors and when it is glued together with a flexible water proof
glue serves nicely as medallion sheeting. Over the years I have seen dozens
of synthetic wing materials come and go. None have stood the test of time
like materials such as deer hair, calf tail, or bird feathers for winging
dry flies. If you want to add a little sparkle to the wings of your dry
flies incorporate a few fibers of crystal flash or similar material and
avoid getting caught purchasing a lot of over priced marketing hype. Just my
idle thoughts
