One more thing..as Tony mentioned, I simply put a hackle plier on the thread
before I cut the thread from the fly with the automatic bobbin. I also keep
12 all set to go and have them in a box on my tying table..that way each
color of thread is at the ready without having to respool. Mostly the
primrose, rusty dun and red have extra spools at the ready while all the
other colors are on the bobbin already threaded. I saw a neat gadget at the
fly shop.. a turn around with a big spring along the top of the turnaround,
about 4 inches in diameter. Then the thread from the bobbin was simply stuck
into the spring as one put up the bobbin and they didn't get banging
together in the box.
Larry Johnson, of this list, simply hooks his bobbin by the thread on
the rubber grommet of his bobbin cradle at the end of each fly and thus has
it ready to reuse with the next one. He makes it look slick when he does
it..for me it is a bit awkward.
Back to the original question..one thing I really like is the smaller
profile of the Norbobbin..fits a smaller as well as a bigger hand without
the carmping that the bigger bobbins with the wide spool cause. Again..a
smaller hand or arthritis will make this bobbin a wonderful addition to your
tying table. Joyce

PS: I spool mine with my sisters drill or, with the Norvise itself when she
takes her drill home. My own drill is at the ready with a wire hook for
making furled leaders.
