as we are talking so many flyfishing and flytying related things lately, let me throw in my hat with a question:
When we select a hackle for a dry fly, we usually take a hackle, where the barbs are 150% long compared to the hook's gape.
When I run through catalogs and pictures, I see this measurement, when it is about mayfly patterns. For caddis imitations I sometimes see a smaller hackle. (120%..)
How do you all deal with this?
