I am going to go out and see if the original Lowe's Kitty Litter is still available.

To end this story, I went out and scrounged the shelves for kitty litter at the local supermarket.

The grey Fuller's Earth kitty litter is the cheapest, most plainly packaged thing on the shelf. Unscented, unclumping, uncrystaled, and judging from the market growth of the scented, clumping, crystal stuff... mostly undesired.

Got a lifetime supply, 10 pounds of tippet sink *smile*. Now, if we just had a cat.

Will post the most successful tippet sink recipe after I test a few this coming dry fly season. Most involve making a kind of putty or paste with the ground Fuller's Earth and a liquid ranging from liquid hand wash, to a wetting agent like Jet Dri, to glycerin. Wipe the goop on your tippet to absorb grease and oils (that float the tippet) and in the case of the Jet Dri, add a coating that breaks the surface tension of the water surface.

This stuff is very advisable for dry fly fishing in stillwater over wary or educated fish where a visible tippet floating next to the fly will often cause a refusal.
