Chuck:
Two fairly simple flies to tie that I like to use are either a beadhead or weighted Green Weenie and pearl Estaz bug.  I tie them on TMC101 in sizes 6 to 10.
Green Weenie
Slide on a bead head or wrap the shank with medium lead wire.  Take a 3 inch piece of medium Chartreuse chenille and wrap down on the shank.  Bring the thread to back to the bend.  Form a loop, about a shank length long.  Wrap down and then bring thread to the front of the hook either behind the bead head or hook eye.  Wrap a chenille body.  Wrap down, trim excess.  Go fishing.  You might experiment with color.  White, Hot Orange, Pink, or Variegated chenille.
Estaz Bug
Tied on a TMC 101, sizes 4 to 10.
Make 6 or 7 wraps of medium or heavy lead wire on the middle of the hook shank.
Tie in 10 strands, shank length, of smolt blue crystal flash at the bend.
Tie in some white marabou over the crystal flash, marabou should be about a 1/4 inch longer than the flash.
Tie in some pearl Estaz along the shank, wrap down and bring thread to the front of the hook.
Wrap a body with the Estaz.  Wrap down, trim excess, and build thread head.  Whip finish or whatever.  Now take a pair of scissors and trim the Estaz short.  The body should take on the shape of a Mr. Twister grub.  Go fishing.  Also try Chartreuse, Root Beer, Black.  Match flash and marabou to color.

.. So, I flyfish for bream and sunfish  (cause in Bama there have been four pound bluegill caught NO fish tale there LOL)...Anyway, went to my favorite watershed here yesterday afternoon to try out my early fathers day fish/deptfinder, and the surface water temp is about 84.5 degrees, and 85 degrees drives the bluegills etc back into deeper (cooler) water.. So, I didn't catch anything much cause I have been using bream killer "water bug" flies, and tearin em up on the bed.. But, now, any suggestions to pull em out of the deeper water??? I know I'll have to go to a sinking wet fly, but which types would be best??? Thanks in advance.. Chuck da Newbie Flyfisher
