Hey, Chuck (and all) -
The Red Tag is a constant producer for me for everything from
bream (Bluegill/ panfish), to rock bass and smallmouth bass, all
the way to trout! For me, it's right up there with the 'Spitfire'
(Guinea hackle and minor other differences, but essentially a Red
Tag) and 'Zugbug'... The Zugbug Nymph is my favorite/ go-to nymph
pattern, bar none! I'm not a bettin' man, but if I were, my money
would be on several websites having the recipe via a google
search. In any event, the Zugbug (for whatever reason) has
produced more bream for me than the Red Tag, though the bodies of
both are of Peacock Herl - go figure. I did notice that I tie my
Zugbugs tighter/ skinnier in the body than I do my Red Tags, so
perhaps that difference in profile has something to do with
it. Regardless, I better get back to work... yes, "work" work, at 9:00PM...
Tight lines, Pete
