I'm with you. It it not only impolite (if seen as if the "hijacker" is interrupting a spoken conversation), but also breaks threading. IMHO, threading is VERY useful so breaking it is an undesirable thing. As always: in my opinion is up to Bram to dictate rules for the mailing list and it's _impossible_ to really enforce them for already subscribed members.
