This was not about you, and certainly your name shouldn't have been used
as an example.

Anyway, and since you stepped into the conversation, I'll explain
something to you. Although many email clients (including the one I'm
using now, GMail web interface) group threads by subject, in reality
threading is done using the "Message-ID" and "In-Reply-To" headers,
usually. Depending on the client, when you reply a message (even if you
change the subject) those headers will maintain the thread. So you will
end up with a new thread hanging from an old thread.

It's not your fault if you didn't know this, specially if you didn't
have the intention of "hijacking" the thread, but it is your fault using
a reply to start a new thread: even if you change the subject you are
*replying* anyway ;)))) Don't do it next time ;)

I don't think anybody feels bad about this, it's just that threading has
a purpose, and if you break it you make information a bit more difficult
to find next time anybody is searching for answers.

Forget about this and, as you said, get it right next time :)
