Hi,
A friend just gave me a Mac Plus. It came with an external HD. First I tried to start from a floppy. So I inserted over a half a dozen startup floppies, all 800k or 400k with several different System versions, from 4 to 6.0.8. All floppies were expelled, preceded by question mark and with an "X" mark afterwords. Then I conected the external drive and started. Question mark again. I don't know if the pRAM can be zapped or if this is a valid procedure on this model, and if it can, how to do it. So I turned it on and pressed the zap keys. I did something different. It showed a blank floppy icon first, then the screen went black and then the floppy icon came back with the question mark. I kept holding the keys but nothing else happened. The blinking "?" continued.
Since none of the startup floppies I used worked, I'm wondering whether there is a Plus model-specific startup disk...
