The problem's gonna lie in a dirty or malfunctioning floppy drive. If you can get one, replace the floppy drive. OR, dismantle the existing one partially and clean and lube it.

I forgot to mention I am having a hard time trying to open the Plus. I have two other compacts (512 & SE) which I've opened many times effortlessly. But this one... I think it has never been opened before. I've removed the screws, but can't crack the shell open. I'm afraid of damaging the case or something inside it. Any advice?

Thanks,
Harold
