Definately not for desktop CPUs. AMD's Socket 939 64bit CPUs have a maximum heat output of 33 watts under full load and when "throttled back" can drop as low as 3 watts. (No comparison to the older Socket 940 CPUs that were a shorter lived flash in the pan than the Socket 423 first generation P4.) <http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20041221/cpu_charts-07.html> A 3.2Ghz Socket 775 puts out up to 115 watts of heat. <http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20041220/cpu_charts-23.html> Also of note on Socket 775 is the pinless contact design. Wooooo. Just like the old LCC package 80286 CPUs, except there's 775 of them. What's old is new again, eh? It will be total Fandemonium!
