Its amazing how a quaint little car acts as an Ambassador of Peace!
I understand that with what the media projects its only normal for the
rest of the world to imagine the worst. Ive heard of people asking if we ride
on Camels instead of driving cars!
In fact the people and places in this region are what anyone would
consider quite normal. I wish we project ourselves better. Its the few bad
apples which make the whole basketload look offensive.
We have many issues like poverty, lack of awareness and above all a very
negative influence by the Mullahs (clergy) in general. These idiots are
responsible for painting a very negative picture of the West in the eyes of the
common gullible masses. They have their own nefarious desires and aim to win
support so that they are brought to power.
Then there are the politicians. Almost all if not all, corrupt to the
core. We have seen what democracy means for our country. It may be the best
thing for the educated and enlightened West but our masses are just gullible
simpletons in general. Everyone comes to power with the intention of making hay
while the sun shines. They are the ones who turn perfectly sane people into
'animals who shoot each other'!
I think every society has its highs and lows. As Bill has also pointed
out with an example. My one year stay in the UK taught me many things. The
British have good as well as bad points. They are polite, respectful and very
helpful in things like guiding you to some place etc. But then they will not
help a man in distress. I witnessed a middle aged man collapse at a bus stand
but no one came even near him. I helped him and everyone stared at me in
disbelief. Thats just an experience. But then maybe one event is not sufficient
to form an opinion.
There are a lot of people doing a lot of things just to make themselves
look important. I think the common man in America has been made to think that
the war on terror is something essential for them to exist. A lot of conspiracy
theories suggest a different story. I dont think the blood of innocent young
soldiers justifies the search for the apparition Osama Bin Laden seems to be.
Im glad the www helps us see that differences only add to the interesting
myriad and not as a means of division. At the end of the day we all are humans.
We have people here (including myself) who cried seeing the images of 9-11.
People jumping off a skyscrapper holding hands.....what choice did they
have?...... To die another way?......what was their fault???
Indeed food for thought.
Wishing sanity would prevail.
