Ah so I do see you are a RHD country! Your English is really good too.
How'd you learn to type it so well?

I guess for anyone, it's what they are used to growing up with. I find that
since I'm a right handed person, that I can find the little notches for the
gear shift pattern easier. Steering is such a general analog function that
my sloppy left hand is good enough to steer with. I found in Australia I
couldn't get in an out of the right hand side because the steering wheel was
in the way! And the toyota I was driving had first gear clear over away
from me. I like having the most commonly used gears closer to me so I'm not
having to reach over all the time. I never did break the habit of turning
on the windshield wipers every time I wanted to signal my turn. LOL!

Erin,

    You are most welcome!

its interesting to note the novelty of RHD dubs for you guys. For us the
opposite is true, Pakistan being a RHD country. A LHD VW or any vehicle is
interesting here. I cannot imagine how I would be able to shift with my
right hand!

Last week I saw this 68 bug that had been driven over from Germany by
the original owner. It was still in original paint, though very faded and
needing touch ups on the fenders. It had a factory steel sunroof and front
Disc brakes something uncommon here. I examined it in detail and for the
first time saw the special fuel tank vent hose which was found on only the
early 68s. My daily driven 68 is supposed to have that vent but the pipe and
all hardware is missing. My other 68 has the later style tank with the vapor
vent on the RHS near the filler hose.

I was thinking of changing the tank to a later one.....original one
requires me to open the trunk and pop the vent open manually to let the
displaced air escape on fill ups.......even got a good one from the
junkyard....but now Im double minded. Its one of the things I point out to
puzzled friends who claim that ''all beetles look the same''. I show them
ten differences between the two 68 bugs!

A VDub with twin steerings n pedals...hmmm...why hasnt someone done it
still??

Asad.
