Marc, thanks for the nice description, now if I could just
retain a bit of that.
Just to add a single data point, of sorts.
For reasons beyond my control I'm running a 30/31 on a 1915
engine. Yes, that is weird. I was having horible trouble
with a fast idle, and with off-idle stumbling. Yesterday I
went from a main jet of 120 to 130 and what a difference in
the off idle drivability. The idle is still set high, but
I'm not sure I have much control of that with this
particular carb (not new, not cleaned). I'll have to check
my plugs to see how its running but it 'feels' so much
better.
I am going to put my dual webers (44IDF) on eventually and
I'm also trying an experiment with a 34PICT someone is
jetting for me. I don't expect any miracles but I always
like having a single carb as a backup.

I wouldn't recomend this set-up to anyone but there it
is...
I think a gas analyser would come in handy...
Dean
