Thanks Russ and Bert (who pmailed me a similar suggestion).
 
     I have taken good precautions to avoid such a scenario. Both the battery 
terminals have nice thick rubber caps AND I always place a thick rubber mat 
over the battery. This also prevents any acidic vapours from eating away the 
seat frame/springs.
 
     The rear seat is nice n firm and is hardly ever used as I very rarely 
carry passengers.
