Nick - so glad to hear you're still working on the old dub radios. With the
latest fiasco with my crappy Ford acting up, it's just firing me up all over
again as to the beauty of the VW design. I can fix it myself and instead of
plunking down $400 for a timing belt replacement, I can buy a new set of
heads! As soon as I get the maintenance on my bug done, I'm going to go
back into driving it full bore with the exception being in the winter time.
I have an old beater baja for that.

At any rate, I looked at your website and very well done! I like how it's
all layed out. I picked up an early 60 beetle with the familar mouse piss
scent and it's got a shortwave radio in the dash. I'll look at ti the next
time I'm out there and see what brand it is. I bought the bug primarily
because of the radio and the 36hp engine in it. Those 36hp engines are
really rare and I'm glad I've got one. Don't know what for but glad I have
it. :)

I'm glad we have some people are still willing to do the specialty work on
the old dubs. They are the last remnants of an old culture that once
thrived when the VWs were being produced. The last ones in the states were
sold in 1979 and that was it. I really wish the Mexican beetles would have
been allowed in the states. It was have spawned another subcultural wave of
hippies and free-thinking individuals which I would have loved. We have too
many closed minded individuals running around as it is...

Okay, off my rambling soap box now. Nice to see the list coming back to
life. I'm really loving my VWs all over again and now that I have a wife
who backs me up on all of this, it's nice to know that someone sanctions my
quirkiness. :)
