I wouldn't recommend it, if any small amount of glue gets into the gaps your Earpods will be ruined. Also, I think somebody must have absolutely gigantic fingers to have problems since that centre area is more than a half inch wide, almost 5/8 inches, which should be mor than enough for the tip of even a very large finger.
