Hi all.
First, Jonathan: While I, myself, have done all I can to push the
issue, AppleVis simply will not post something I don't think because
of the reasons I outlined in my previous message. Understand the
person who makes the final decisions on such matters is the site
owner. While I am on the Editorial Team, and have some influence on
the goings on of the site, the ultimate decision is not mine.
I also sent an email to the hardware feedback form listed in your
article, and hope this will make a difference. As I said in another
email list, I think such an implementation would be fine if the
technology were more advanced than what we currently have.
To Rich and others regarding the haptic feedback and telling time,
another rumor I saw awhile back was that developers would have access
to the haptic engine in the next Watch OS, so perhaps this will be
something we will see soon. In the mean time, there is currently a
product in development that will ship in May of next year that
promises to do this and more. I've seen a prototype of it, and it does
look promising. They're also working on an iOS app that will work with
the watch, though I have not had the chance to test that out. The
developers were not even thinking of the deaf-blind population when
they developed it, and I'm trying to change that. Anyway, if you want
to read more, go to:
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/sunu-ultrasonic-wearable-to-heighten-perception#/
Sorry if the second part of my message came off as a comercial of
sorts, I had not intended it to be that way.

Take care,
Scott
