QR codes are very good for labelling things of your own. I print
them onto labels and affix them to devices in an inventory I maintain
at my work. I also put them on things like the envelope containing my
year's worth of tax materials. Although I use the Digit-Eyes website
to generate the QR codes to print onto labels, I use another iPhone
app called QuarKode QR Reader because it is much easier to use.

A QR code is just a series of square dots arranged in a grid that
contains information based on a standard. They contain information
on whatever they're attached to. In my experience, they're
frequently used so you don't have to type in a long URL or some
other information. For example, I've seen QR codes on badges I've
gotten attending a conference where scanning that code would take
you to the agenda for the conference. You'll also see them on ads
where scanning them will take you to the web site for the product or
the company.
You can google to get more information on QR codes, such as the
wikipedia site at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_code

Richard you are correct. Products purchased in stores have UPC
barcodes. I don't know what a QR code is or where this code may be used.

Hi Jewel,
I will take your word for only needing QR codes, but most
commercial products do not have QR codes but UPC codes unless I am
completely misinformed.
I am not completely surprised at the number of messages I've
replied to, but I think if you look at some others, they would
make that seem pretty insignificant.

I have been to the site you recommended Richard and, from what I

I will have a practice and see what I come up with.
Talk about being the fountainhead of information, my deleted
items folder shows that between the
dates of 17 Feb and 26 Mar, you responded to 100 messages asking
for help on: I haven't counted
them: many different programs.

Digit-Eyes by Digital Miracles, L.L.C.

I like Digit-Eyes the best.
The key is to place the camera against the object, start the
scanning, and slowly pull the phone
away about 4 to 8 inches. If you aren't on the bar code, you can
slowly turn the item about a
quarter of a turn and wait, or, start over.
There are lots of good tips on their web site for scanning tips.
