She did do the over the air update from the way it sounds. It may work 99% of the time, but there is always a chance something can go wrong for whatever reason and the update process gets corrupted. Actually, updating via iTunes is in my opinion a safer way to update, but then again that is just my opinion. However, if I update via iTunes I get much more feedback and I’m not left in the dark so to speak while the iPhone reboots. Some people get worried if it takes a while and especially with older devices it can take quite a while. It’s best to plug the iPhone in when you do an over the air update and once you agreed to everything and the iPhone reboots, just don’t touch it even if it sits there for 2 hours. If nothing happens after that long then I guess something did go wrong.

Just connect your phone to the power charger, and do it over WiFi. I have never had any problems. Good luck. If anyone has any more suggestions such as how to put it in recovery road mode and restore it back to life I would really appreciate it. Thank you. Step-by-step instructions needed please. Thank you thank you. It sounds like your iPhone got corrupted during the process. Hopefully you have a iCloud or iTunes back up. Last resort, you will have to get the iPhone in recovery mode and use the iTunes player on the computer to bring it back to life. I looked in my sent messages and I did not see this one. The iPhone told me the update would begin in so many seconds, and then stopped. It never rebooted after that. I connected it to the computer and try to update through iTunes, which I do have the latest version of, but iTunes said that there was a problem updating the phone. I tried several times, but each time iTunes kept saying that it was downloading software for the update but then trying to start the update process over. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. The iPhone is the only phone I have.
