Hi Terri,

As Christopher already said, the only iPod that can run iOS 10 will be the
sixth generation, the fifth generation stops at iOS 9. Probably not a big
concern for now if all you want to do is run Spotify, listen to Audio books and
so on.
Personally I think it's a waste of money, if you don't want notifications while
you listen to a book or music just bring up SIRI and say "Turn on Do Not
Disturb".
As far as getting stuff onto the iPod Touch it is identical to an iPhone. Yes,
you can use Dropbox or any number of other cloud services to access stuff
inside their apps, but if you want the music app then iTunes is the only way
and if you avoid iTunes with your iPhone then you will also avoid it with the
iPod Touch.
I started out with an iPod Touch in 2009 and then got the iPhone 4 in 2010. A
month or two after I got the iPhone I sold my iPod Touch because it was just
sitting in the drawer. The same happened when I bought my 6S. I kept my 5S at
the time and thought maybe I use it at home for Audible and stuff like that,
but I just never did because I prefer to use one device instead of two which
essentially do the same thing.

Regards,
Sieghard

Correct. iPhone 5 and later, iPad 4, iPad Mini 2 and later, iPad Pro both 12
and 9.7-inch and iPod Touch 6th Generation will all run iOS 10.
