Great info Richard!!!
Thanks! What I bought was two or three generations ago, so my description may not apply to more recent models. I found the keyboard awkward to type on. The keys had flat, rectangular key tops. The keystroke was short and I always found myself being unsure whether the keys had been pressed far enough to enter a character. The keyboard was physically attractive and well made. It was all aluminum. I think even those uncomfortable keys were aluminum. I bought a Logitech keyboard (K380) because it was a comfortable keyboard with good key travel and, even without detents, I still somehow had more certainty about when keys were pressed far enough to enter characters. (By the way, you can tell by now that I do not like to use key echo.) A disadvantage of the Logitech is that the top row keys do not all follow the Apple pattern of functions. But, I don’t find the functions that Apple assigns to their keyboard especially useful. I’m usually working when typing and don’t need to control music. I also bought the Amazon Basics keyboard. I wanted a second keyboard that was smaller—and the Amazon Basics is slightly smaller than either the Apple or Logitech. Typing on the Amazon is relatively comfortable. Not as comfortable as the Logitech, but still acceptable. And, the price is far lower. I bought mine for a little over $21.00. For full size keyboards for my PCs, I have keyboards that use Cherry Blue switches. I’m picky about keyboards. I pretty much write all day and need something that can help me fend off repetitive motion injuries. The Logitech is no Northgate or Avant, but it’s a decent keyboard. I never had the problem of random characters being entered with a key press from the Apple keyboard; however, that was several versions ago of the IOS operating system. If I found that the Logitech and Amazon Basics keyboards were the cause of the problem, then, of course, I would stop using them. But, unless the Apple keyboards have been improved, I probably just won’t use an external keyboard all that much. Hope this helps, Richard From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Chip Orange Sent: Monday, September 12, 2016 6:56 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: Bluetooth Keyboards Entering Incorrect Letters & Characters Hello, I am fairly new to the Iphone world, and am about to buy a bluetooth keyboard. Could you tell me why you bought the model you did instead of the Apple keyboard (which I assume is the default unless you have something specific to make you select something else)? Thanks. I use the logitech easy switch k811. But others I have talked to and helped, just turn there keyboard off, and back on after 30 seconds, and it seems to fix this issue. Since the public beta will be out tomorrow, I can let you know you will be pleasantly surprised with this issue among others. They have squashed a lot of voiceover bugs. This has occurred with a Logitech K380 and an Amazon Basics keyboard. Character errors seem to be random, so I don’t think this is a case of the keyboard being somehow switched to a Dvorak keyboard or to another language. I frequently use a Bluetooth keyboard at the same time I am using a Bluetooth earpiece, although the problem does not happen only while I am using the earpiece. The only solution I’ve found so far is to shut down and then again power up the iPhone. This makes using an external keyboard pretty unreliable. Has anyone else experienced this and have you found a solution? Thanks. Richard Petty -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
