hi, Rick, I also have ring doorbell, and mine does route to the earpiece. Then 
it seems to go through the speaker after a couple of seconds or so. I'm very 
new at this myself, and any help anybody can provide would be certainly 
appreciated. I do like the convenience of it, however, and I do like it's 
concept. What I also want to know is The doorbell mechanism itself has four 
screws in it, which houses the battery. I'm wondering if there is another 
easier way to take this mechanism off when it's time to charge it. I also heard 
about another device which can be put on the stick up camera, which 
automatically charges the battery and you never have to charge the battery 
again. I was looking on the Ring website and it was listed under, I believe, 
accessories. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much. Esther
