hi, Rick, thanks for your comments. I do have a friend who also has the ring doorbell app and the ring doorbell mechanism and she said that whenever I wanted to unplug the battery, she would help me do it. Thanks to you and to others who gave me some helpful hints. I appreciate them. Esther
