Does touch ID have to do more with the phone or the IOS. My phone is pretty
old, a 5C, but I am hoping to get a new one pretty soon.
I'm just not sure which one yet.

even easier if your phone has Touch ID.

That's a good question, and I don't know the answer. It may be that if
you turn on Keychain, the same passwords are saved as in an iTunes backup My
understanding is that health data is not part of iCloud backups in iOS 10, so
that would still be an advantage of an encrypted iTunes backup.

otherwise, they're the same as iCloud ones. If you set iTunes to download
copies of all your purchased apps, it will restore from those downloaded apps
instead of the app store, however. I usually do an iTunes backup before

because iCloud backups are automatic. That way, if for some reason I
unexpectedly had to erase my phone or start with a new device, I would have a

To restore to an iCloud backup, go to Settings, choose General,
then Reset, then Erase All Content and Settings. Follow the prompts. This will
completely wipe all the info on your device. You then start the set-up process,
and when you are asked, choose to restore from iCloud. The device will restore
from the latest backup.
As for why the backup file is small, it doesn't include the OS or
your apps. It also doesn't include large files like podcasts and music.
Instead, it contains a list of all your apps and how you had them arranged,
along with app data such as preferred settings and game scores. some apps
include other data, like documents, but many do not. You have to download the
data again. In short, restoring from a backup takes some work and I wouldn't
recommend it unless there's a compelling reason to do it.

Also, when I check the size of the storage used for backing up,
it is very small, only 111 mg. for my phone and Mini IPad combined.
If ICloud is backing up everything I have selected, shouldn't
it be much larger than that, if it is also including backing up the Current IOS?
