That's not a big deal, is it? A lot of companies require this. If you were a
developer, wouldn't you want recognition?

Just made a purchase from their site. I could not give them my money until I
filled in a field "where did you hear about us".
Smacks of desperation for recognition and arrogance over their customers. I
am highly disappointed what has previously been excellent experiences with
them has been soured with this petty control.
