This is what I was told as well. Whenever I try to communicate with T mobile
using my iPhone, even if it is just to update carrier settings, I am told to
turn off WIFI first.

Subject: T-mobile customers, I have a problem with voicemails being delayed
Hi All,
This question is directed particularly to anyone who is a T-Mobile
customer, though I would be glad to hear from anyone else who has seen
this behavior.
On more than one occasion, I have seen long -- and I mean days long --
delays in receiving voicemails on my iPhone 7 with T-Mobile. For
example, someone left me a voicemail on Monday night and I didn't
receive it until this morning.
When I called T-Mobile to complain I was told that the delay is caused
by my phone having been connected to the wifi network in my house and
that the only way to address the problem is to be disconnected from
wifi. This explanation seemed so absurd that I questioned the customer
service rep, even repeating the information back to her. She assured
me that this was the "solution" that was recommended by apple for what
is a known issue.
As I said, this is not the first time I've seen this problem since
becoming a T-Mobile customer. However, it is the first time I could
exactly pinpoint the time-line of the delay. But the solution of not
connecting to wifi just seems ridiculous.
Does anyone have any thoughts? I feel like this is something I really
can't live with.
Kim
