Hello Craig, You ask an interesting question to which, I think there is no clear answer. Apple employs its own file system that, for better or worse, is somewhat of a mystery to most of us.
I suspect that the various app data, such as books for BARD, are stored all across the storage device in the most efficient configuration possible. In short, I don't think the actual files live in any one place on the drive. For example, when I look at the amount of BARD storage space used on my 8 Plus, it reports 5.5GB; I have over 30 titles downloaded two of which are over 72 hours of audio, each. Perhaps the OS reserves so much default storage space for particular app; this is just a guess, of course. This is why I assert that if one truly wants to wipe the internal storage completely clean, the phone much be setup as a new device in order to erase all of the current data and fresh copies of the OS and apps, installed. At present, one can only accomplish this via iTunes on a computer.
