Hello Craig,

You ask an interesting question to which, I think there is no clear answer.
Apple employs its own file system that, for better or worse, is somewhat of a
mystery to most of us.

I suspect that the various app data, such as books for BARD, are stored all
across the storage device in the most efficient configuration possible. In
short, I don't think the actual files live in any one place on the drive. For
example, when I look at the amount of BARD storage space used on my 8 Plus, it
reports 5.5GB; I have over 30 titles downloaded two of which are over 72 hours
of audio, each. Perhaps the OS reserves so much default storage space for
particular app; this is just a guess, of course.

This is why I assert that if one truly wants to wipe the internal storage
completely clean, the phone much be setup as a new device in order to erase all
of the current data and fresh copies of the OS and apps, installed. At
present, one can only accomplish this via iTunes on a computer.

Mark

It seems certain the BARD books are downloaded to the iOS device. Why, then,
does the BARD app still appear to be taking up only 5.5 MB of iPhone storage
with two downloaded books? Where do these books live on the device?

Thanks.

Craig

I don’t think it actually downloads to your iDevice. I believe
that there may be a sort of temporary cloud storage that you stream from.

Greetings to the list.

I am using the BARD app on iOS 11.4.1, and I notice that when I go to
"Settings -> General -> iPhone Usage," the BARD app fills only 5.5MB
even though two relatively full-length books have been dowloaded.
"Documents and Data" under the app take up only a few kilobytes of
storage. Where on the iPhone are my two books kept?

Thank you very much for all help.

Craig
