With all the traffic floating around about these glasses, and some confusion etc., it sounds very much like what is necessary is some kind of wise a person to do a tutorial, in my view preferably a written one not a podcast, that would go through and explain what you can do with what thing. I have listened to the audio ones that have been suggested. And they’re nice, but they’re old and they’re also audio only. Written things are way better in my opinion, because you can easily refer back to them. It sounds like different people are getting different results, and wouldn’t it be nice if somebody who really knows what they’re doing and has the time, always a problem, could do some kind of introthat would help people from the get-go about the buttons on the cases and what’s on the glasses, and what the Meta View wants to do etc. I have the glasses. Bought them a week ago. Now that I have my 16 pro, I want to set them up.  
I searched Google and got a worthless YouTube about how to initially set them up with pairing etc. It was the usual sided person doing their here’s what you do and then I guess they did something, but there was no explanation. If the Meta View app actually really does walk you through everything, which given Facebook I kind of doubt, I guess that’s OK. But given all the issues that it seems like people have had, it sure would be nice if somebody smart Had some kind of documentation out there that would actually tell you all these commands and all this stuff. Back in the good old days, when people actually wrote manuals and read them, we knew what to do. We didn’t have to get on list and ask and ask and ask yet again. Whatever happened to well written Documentation? I suppose it’s because they change every six months. Is that really necessary? End of rent.

Under Settings > Communications there are I believe 3 things, Phone, Messenger and WhatsApp. When I tapped on Phone at some point it mentioned that I had to go into Bluetooth on my iPhone, select the “More Info” for the glasses and make sure all permissions were given for contacts etc.

Not sure why you were having such difficulties, but you do of course have to follow the instructions to connect your phone and to then go into Settings > Bluetooth, select the “More Info” option for your glasses via the rotor and make sure all permissions for contacts and so on are switched on. This was all clearly explained when I linked the glasses to my phone.

I was finally able to sync my Meta glasses with my iPhone contacts. As mentioned in a previous email, I reached out to Meta support for assistance. They suggested removing and reinstalling the Meta View app on my iPhone, which ultimately worked after several attempts.

 

Here’s a summary of the steps I took to resolve the issue:

  1. I installed and uninstalled the Meta View app three times without success.
  2. My son then reset the glasses and tested them with his phone, which worked on the first try.
  3. He reset the glasses again and reinstalled the Meta View app on my iPhone for the fourth time, which finally resolved the issue.
  4. After each deletion of the app, I restarted my iPhone.

It’s unclear whether the resolution came from resetting the glasses or the final reinstallation, but one of these steps made the glasses work as expected.

 

Tip for confirming proper installation:
To verify that the Meta View app is installed correctly, go to your iPhone's Bluetooth settings. Under "My Devices," locate the "RB Meta" entry and swipe up. On the next screen, the first item should be "Show Message Notifications." If the app wasn’t installed correctly, this option won’t appear. Ensure that all options on this screen are selected for proper functionality.

 

The following is the instructions on how to reset the meta glasses off the internet:

To reset Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure the Glasses Are Powered On
    • Confirm that the glasses are charged and turned on.
  2. Press and Hold the Power Button
    • Locate the power button, usually on the right temple or inside the frame near the arm.
    • Press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds. You should see the LED light flash during this time.
  3. Watch for the LED Indicator
    • The LED light will change colors or flash in a specific pattern to indicate the reset process is happening. Typically, a solid white or flashing LED signals that the reset is complete.
  4. Reconnect to Your Device
    • After resetting, you'll need to re-pair the glasses with your device. Open the Bluetooth settings on your phone, forget the device (if previously connected), and pair it again.
  5. Reinstall the Meta View App (Optional)
    • If you're still experiencing issues, consider uninstalling and reinstalling the Meta View app on your phone before re-pairing.

I attempted to make a WhatsApp call and transfer the video to the glasses by double-pressing the camera button on the right side. This time, it worked successfully. Although I am unsure why it didn’t work initially, it is now functioning as expected.

 

This feature is especially useful in situations where you might prefer not to use Be My Eyes for assistance, opting instead to contact someone you know for support.

 

The more I use the glasses and explore their functionality, the more I appreciate their features—particularly given their affordability.

You can start a WhatsApp call using the start a video call button, it is after the regular start a call button. When the video call connects, press the camera button twice, it’s located on the top right side of the glasses.

They do so much more than that. Perhaps the best thing about them as they now work with the visual interpreter services, both be my eyes and AIRA, although with AIRA the calls need to be routed through what’s app, hopefully this will change. Being able to use be my eyes, chat with a person in real time without needing to point your phone is a real game changer, I use it all the time.

They are on Amazon or if you have a Target, Best Buy, Lens Crafters near by you, you can go look for yourself and see if they are something you could use.
