Several ideas present.
First, maybe it is backed up on iCloud anyway. Check.
  Try another USB port on that computer which appears to have issues.
You might try copying over the backup files manually to a functioning computer although I'm not 100% sure that would work.
This points up why a little preparation goes a long long way.
