Hi Kimber,

Is this a Windows 8 laptop? I heard sometimes an iPhone is not recognized in
Windows 8 if not all Windows 8 updates are installed. I can't confirm this
from my own experience, but I heard this yesterday on the Today in iOS
Podcast. One interesting test would be if there is the USB connect sound
from Windows and, if so, if she takes a picture or 2, does the phone show up
in Windows Explorer as a device? I think you said the computer does not
recognize "any USB device" which of course would indicate there is something
seriously wrong with the laptop. As others suggested, make sure you try all
USB ports and try things like maybe a USB thumb drive or a USB keyboard to
see if the computer recognizes it.

Regards,
Sieghard

Hi Kimber,

Has your daughter tried using a different USB cable? Maybe the problem is
simply that a cable has gone bad.

Best of luck,
Anna
