These days, everyone and his brother are doing podcasts, and unlike commercial radio and TV, there is no quality control, so some of the stuff is great, and some of it sucks. For me, the voice of the person or persons doing the program is important. There is one particular podcast that always has interesting content, but I do not listen to it because I can't stand the voices of the people who do it.

Hi all,

I also believe it's a personal choice and mine is because I've been
listening to Freedom Scientific's podcasts for years now and have been
following Jonathan since the days of BBS's and love his cool calm and
concise way of explaining things. His background in radio serves him well
not to mention that he is one of us.

I'm glad I had the chance to pre-order and save 50% but, had I missed the
pre-ordering period, I would gladly have paid the regular price because I am
confident that it will be professionally done. I'm one of these people who
hates to pay a little for something and then find out that I have to spend
more to go for the big guns anyway and spend more money. My past experience
is my teacher.

Just a personal opinion

Hi all.
I think it's really a matter of what makes the feature come most alive. For
example, I'm producing a tutorial on iTunes Radio, but am listing all the
accessibility changes I can find in a blog post. I'd personally prefer to
read as well, especially when it's that or listen to some podcast that was
poorly organized and has a lot of verbiage not needed to get a point across.
Yes, there is the fast forward button, but unless it's a file, or set of
files, which allow you to jump past all that, you could be wasting a lot of
time. I think it's possible that you can do a good job at both, or a terible
job at either. I've never heard anything produced by Fadora Outlier, so I'll
be interested to see what they have to offer.

Hi Scott,

Apple vis and this list will be my first stop once IOS7 is released!
<Smile>. There is nothing better than cranking up the speed on an
audio presentation and pausing when experimentation is needed as I follow
along.
At this point, and for me only, reading in Braille or Braille display
is unnecessarily slow; it feels like using an abacus rather than a
calculator.

I agree with those saying that it's all about personal preference. I'm
here to tell you though that Applevis, and I'm sure others, have lots
of free materials headed out the door when release time comes. Within
1 or 2 hours I'd say at most. But for something hopefully more
professionally done, these are good resources as well. I know for my
part, I get paid $0 for what I do and am fine with it. But it may not
be the most pollished presentation.

Christopher, I agree with you; I do not purchase these tutorials

digest it,

and listen to some additional podcasts too, but it is definitely a

decision, no different than which twitter app, which barcode app, etc.

someone uses.

I think this is a personal decision each person will have to make for
themselves. Some people may prefer having all of this information at
once and in one place rather than waiting for podcasts to show up on
various sites and wade through the back and forth that will occur on
different mailing lists. Some people may prefer a reference and a
manual format over a podcast format. IMHO, this resource may or may
not be worth paying for for some people, but I don't think anyone can
make this decision for anyone else.

I agree with you, Scott, I can't see a need to spend money on a

Besides, why pay for it when most of the information will be soon
available for free.

For those who wish to access this sort of material via audio, or who
are jus interested in what's new with accessibility, I think I can
publicly say that Applevis will be covering a lot of the VoiceOver
stuff as soon as iOS 7 is released to the public. Not that these
other resources aren't good, because I'm sure they will be, just
throwing another one out there.

Subject: IOS 7 Tutorial

Hi all,

For those of you planning to upgrade to IOS 7 next month, here is a
link I just bumped into. It is a tutorial describing how to use the
new features of IOS 7. The tutorial sounds like an amazing buy at
$5. They take PayPal too!

"Pre-Order Today: The Old Hat Guide To iPhone Accessibility, iOS7
Edition

In celebration of the upcoming release of iOS 7 we've updated our
Old Hat Guide to iPhone Accessibility to reflect the new changes
and are thrilled to offer it to you for $4.99 when you pre-order on
or before October 15!

In this updated edition you will find lots more videos, iOS7
specific tips and tricks and more!

Don't waste another minute, follow the link below and get your
hands on a copy of The Old Hat Guide To iPhone Accessibility, iOS7
Edition and pay only
$4.99 when you pre-order on or before October 15!

Written as the "lost manual" for anyone and everyone wanting to dig
even deeper into iOS (or maybe even take the first steps), "The Old
Hat Guide To iPhone Accessibility, iOS7 Edition" follows one of
Fedora Outlier's own, Brie, as she shares her tears, fears and
triumphs as she goes from "scared to death" of her new Apple tech,
to a master and mascot for the empowerment and freedom which comes
with her shiny iDevice.

In the updated version of this book, we'll use easy-to-follow
instructions, personal testimonies and video/audio demonstrations
to cover:
The accessibility settings and how to adjust them based on your
needs Walkthrough of the VoiceOver gestures and simple tricks for
mastering them Rundown of the apps included with your iOS device
Basic techniques on how to browse the web using Safari Managing
mail, contacts and calendars with your iDevice Advanced concepts
for iCloud, Siri and dictation, purchasing apps and much more"

http://www.fedoraoutlier.com/order/

I hope I'm not offending anyone by posting this, but since we're
all posting information, apps, and tutorials regarding how to use
our IOS devices, the content seemed relevant. :) Also, don't forget
that there will be tons of tips and tricks shared by many on this
list once IOS 7 is released.
