Since I am the only one using my phone, I scanned thumb, index and middle finger of my right hand and also the thumb and index of my left hand. Never had do go to my left hand and only use either the index and the thumb of the right hand. Doesn’t matter which one I use. Also, do not press at all, keep a very light touch, barely touching. Works every time. Right now, it is minus 30º Celsius outside my door. If I went out there for several minutes without gloves on, I would have to try a few times to have my prints recognized. The worse you can do is try three times after which it will ask you for your passcode. In that case, I just rotate to handwriting and enter my code. Note that when you enter your passcode that way, it is private because VO does not echo the number you drew on the screen all you hear is a click to confirm the number has been entered. With all these work-around solutions, I think we can wait a bit until Apple works on it some more. Try taking a paper towel or something very soft and as dust free and wipe home button. May help. I have extremely dry finger pads too so maybe helps too. I thought too I would have problems, but seems to be working. Now watch, next time it will stop!
