You might also play with -deferupdate settings when starting Xvnc.
Not sure how much it'd help, or if the latency side effects would be
worth it, but definitely seems worth looking into.

Hi, Wayne,

I just took a look at it.  It's probably handy in
some situations, but the cursor blink and updates
to "toP" are too slow to be affected by any
tolerable deferrable time.  I then tried a rather
severe 700ms delay, which just stopped the cursor
from blinking (I actually want a blinking cusor
and a top update rate at the current setting).  It
delayed everything, including the popup menus.  It
doesn't look like that's the solution, but thanks
for the suggestion to check it out.
