ZRLE is at least as good at Tight in terms of compression in most situations
and has lower overhead.  What confuses people when comparing the two is that
the Tight viewer renders cursors locally, and under Windows has an
incremental update style (see earlier posts on the subject).

The upcoming VNC release has a number of features which improve things
considerably in this area. :)

Over a 28Kbps line, response times will usually be pretty awful, I'm afraid,
no matter what you use.  That said, I've had very good experiences using the
soon-to-be-released VNC versions over a 33Kbps modem, so you may find the
same thing.  On the other hand, you may not. ;)
