I do not need a diagram for that. I can do it easily, with an open hose. Put the hose on the ground. Turn the water a little until a small stream of water flows out of the hose. The hose will be mostly full of air. Like this bottle: http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-25293811.html Or this hose: http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-32645161/stock-photo-well.html You can easily avoid this by picking up the end of the hose and holding it in the air. The flow will stop for a while as the hose fills up. It will fill up, and after a while the water will pour out of the end. That would be a U shaped pipe, recommended for a flow meter.
