You must have typed this in a hurry Jones, a/ a deuteron has no electron of course and b/ in "electron catalyzed fusion" the electron doesn't impede the reaction obviously :)
Yes, thanks Michel - too hasty - the electron of monatomic deuterium would be the species which would presumably be altered by confinement.
However -- it just occurred to me that the putative situation of the nascent Cooper pair, may in fact involve molecular deuterium in which the "effective" pressure (overpotential) of the confinement forces the pair of the electrons from the D2 and not from the Pd. Just another wild thought.
