Ya' know... Vorl is correct about this, but in a perverse kind of way. After all, this is an advocacy group. There has been way too much chicken-counting here. Yet, since this is an advocacy group - its mission is not to prejudge and chastise - and this situation provide an inherent conflict in perspective. Perhaps we should be pleased that intelligent skeptics have chosen to post here, and most of their objections are valid, albeit repetitive, ad nauseum. Yet - they would not be here if they did not recognize this as the most important "potential" breakthrough in technology since atomic energy. A few of them, I suspect are here because they "want to be convinced". This situation of some degree of give-and-take on an advocacy forum is important for proper "balance" if nothing else. And it is quite unlike the situation where we have semi-literate knee-jerk skepticism from perpetual negativists (Park, Randi & many physics forums). In fact, many of us here feel that even though Rossi has rediscovered and improved the known nickel-hydrogen anomaly of Thermacore - he is definitely pulling an end-run of some kind. Mark and myself and many others probably agree that the non-science part of the Rossi milieu is very close to economic scam. OTOH, as Mark sez, we tire of the endless repetition. But a ready solution to that problem is to filter posts from those correspondents. I do recognize their concerns, but would rather not be barraged with them over and over. I do scan them, instead of filter, and this takes away 5-10 minutes of every day - that I wish I had back, but so be it. I just hope that these same skeptics will stay around to chew a bit of shoe leather, when independent data comes in - which is just around the corner ... but isn't it always :-). IOW there could be convincing data on the scientific end soon - but even so, even the advocates must admit that a commercial product is years away. My guess is three years at the earliest. By the way - here is a belated New Years prediction: The "big blue box" is on its way back to Bologna. Rossi will try to play this down, and would not have even acknowledged it happening, if the Paparazzi in Belgium had not caught it in transit. It did not perform up to specifications and "the customer" has been sent back with loss of up-front money. That will be denied by Rossi for now - but the fact is: the technology is/was premature and should never have gotten out the door this soon. In short, let us be clear that the blue box DID perform in a strongly OU fashion, for a short time for the customer, but not reliably. This is essentially the same reason why DGT backed out of the deal - and they did not renege - it is Rossi who could not deliver a device that works for more than a few hours. The E-Cat presently does have periods of infinite OU - but still has extreme NEGATIVE economic value, since the issues involved in keeping it running outweigh the value of heat it delivers. That will not change for some time. You simply cannot pay a staff of scientists to baby-sit a big box that only gives back a small fraction of their salaries. Many of us suspected this all along - that the technology is real but the implementation is ... not just premature, but closer to an abortion. Jones
