Seeing your negative reaction to this factoid, I wanted to make sure that this information came from LeClair himself since it may be prejudicial to his credibility.
To the best of my present knowledge after a bit of research, the original source of this tree and wall story came from Steven B. Krivit, from his old not for profit website. Since Krivit has shown occasional subjectivity and personal preference in his reporting, I will hold off judgment on this account until I see a firsthand reference to this story from the lips of LeClair himself. If you can verify that LeClair personally related this story to Krivit, please post to verify it.
