Good question, Analog LOL … Yes indeed, this soap supplier is clearly no NASA nor even BLP … and yes, it is true that this kind of post from me would usually be tongue-in-cheek & cynical… but in this case, do not forget that Rossi has less than 7 employees and Ampenergo which owns the US rights has only 3 (that we know about) and DGT may have only 2. Plus, let’s be honest - any good plumber can probably build the “low-end” version of ECat in a few hours if he has all the components handy. (including the secret sauce). A bad plumber might need 2 days.
Apparently soap processing does require lots of process heat, so the
end-market is there - and apparently Charlie is pretty handy as an inventor
and tinkerer.
However, as you imply, Charlie is a definite long shot unless he is
emblematic of a new business strategy… but it is not out of the question
that Sutherland has build a few Ecats to provide process heat.
We do know, from JONP that Sutherland put his money where his mouth is in
2011 and placed a deposit on the original design. Perhaps AR/Ampenergo
decided to alter their business plan following the HotCat breakthrough, and
promote the low temperature “entry-level” device direct to small businesses,
and this is the first evidence of it.
That actually makes sense. The HotCat is extremely valuable because the
temperature can be easily converted to electricity but not the original
version. If the “entry level” ECat is only good for hot wet steam (that is
all it has been proved to be good for) then this new business plan makes
perfect sense.
Rossi could never get Government approval for the mass consumer market, but
there are thousands of small businesses which now spend a ton of money on
process heat. Ampenergo needs cash flow too. This could be a way to get cash
flow and retain the most valuable technology.

Jones, are you seriously suggesting that Rossi's US
manufacturing partner is ...a soap company with 7 employees?!?

I thought debunking and ridicule was forbidden on this list?
From: Jones Beene
Although this came out a year and a half ago, this may
identify the company and its CEO
http://ecatmotor.com/e-cat-motor-on-techno-map/
as … Charlie Sutherland of Sutherland Products, Inc. in
Mayodan, NC, USA. On the downside, recent posts of Charlie to JONP give no
indication of such a close connection. It would have to have happened
quickly.
However, “Mt Airy” is one place where they would definitely
celebrate with Coca-Cola instead of Veuve Clicquot. I suspect that the
company is question, if not this one, is probably similar - with a factory
need for process-heat and a “hands-on” CEO who can build things.
IMO - this is NOT an Elon Musk, as some have speculated. He
will hold out for the HotCat version.
From what is online – it would not surprise me if Charlie
(or someone else, possibly in Florida) licensed only the instructions of how
to build the a low temperature version of ECat from Rossi/Ampenergo – since
the HotCat is much more valuable. A low temp version will probably not make
it into the home – due to government regulations, so it will be sold to many
companies to make for themselves.
