Hey Scott,
Let me start off with the fact that my fly
tying experience on different vises is limited. My first vise was a joke (
essentially a pair of vise grips ) and my second vise is a griffin
odyssey. I love this vise. I have not used a renzetti or nor-vise or
dyna king vise so I cannot compare them. And the Cabelas price you state
seems high. I just received my 2002 jannsnetcraft catalog (www.jannsnetcraft.com) and it lists the
odyssey vise for 69.95. The Cabelas vise you are looking at could have the
cam jaw thus making it a cross of the patriot and odyssey vises. My vise
does not have the cam jaw but I still have no problem holding hooks, now my only
problem is my three left thumbs when I tie.
