Not with the 5 minute that I or many, many others use. 

All one does, is loop a rubber band through the tip, stretch it tight with the 
rod shaft in line, and flick a bic under it. It will be off when it comes 
flying from the rod by the rubber band. 

If the rubber band breaks, and you didn't pull it too hard, the tip is getting 
too hot, and it may be a bear to remove it.
