You can use epoxy and still remove the tip-top if needed.  As to why you
would need to remove a tip-top, the only reason I can think of would be to
re-use it if you had to rebuild the tip section.

Speaking of tip tops... I have been toying with the idea of not wrapping
them as I just don't see the point of wraps at the tip-top other than
aesthetics?  Any other opinions?
