Hi Philippe, Paul and others.
Here is the Gracenote website: http://www.gracenote.com/music/ which is the source of the iTunes data. Another good website, for movie fans, is http://www.imdb.com/, IMDB the Internet Movie Data Base.
These may be of use in your discussions.
I haven't had your experiences with iTunes so can't comment on its accuracy, only to say that the few Cds I have opened in iTunes have successfully connected to Gracenote and downloaded Ok information.
Regards
Reg

Hi Paul,

I use the same version of iTunes and OS X on my machine, but I do not have the same problem as yours. I do not know what Gracenote is, presumably an application that populates the info for the Audio CD you have. Wonder if you
did install it on your computer?

If not, then maybe it is a setting somewhere in iTunes 6 that needs to be
changed.

Sorry I do not have a solution to offer, but thought to let you know I do
not encounter this problem.

My system is OS X 10.3.9 and iTunes 6.

Best of luck and to all WAMUG readers all the best for 2006.

Regards,

Philippe

Am I the only one annoyed with Gracenote and iTunes 6.

Every time I put a new shop-purchased music CD in the computer there is an automatic connect to Gracenote and down comes a whole lot of usually error
riddled information about what is supposed to be on the disk.

Tardiness seems to have been a rule of thumb in many of the CD entries from
Gracenote I am now forced to endure.

Some data like the titles and album names can be corrected, but other
columns like Disk#, Year and Comment can't.

Unlike with previous versions of iTunes there now doesn't appear to be any way of stopping the auto-connect feature, apart from unplugging the modem.

Have I missed something obvious with these observations? If not, I wonder
If I can trash iTunes 6 and try going back to the previous version?

My machine has iTunes 6 on SYS 19.3.9

Gripingly, Paul.
