Remove and then reinstall the program.
To do this, follow these steps:
A).Run the Remove Office utility in the Additional Tools:Remove Office
folder on the Office for Mac CD.
B).Select only Microsoft Office 2004 or Microsoft Office 2008 from the
Results list.
C).Empty the Trash.
Note If you receive any error messages when you empty the Trash,
repeat this step until you no longer receive any error messages.
D).Restart the computer.
E).Perform a drag-and-drop installation of Office for Mac.

To Install All Components - The Drag-and-Drop Method
1.Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive. If you
are installing Office v. X from a network volume, connect to that
volume.
2.Click to select the Microsoft Office X folder, and then drag it to a
location on your hard disk (for example, the Applications folder).
After you drop the Microsoft Office X folder onto the hard disk, the
Office v. X files are copied to the installation location.
3.On your hard disk, double-click an Office program file, such as
Microsoft Word.
4.Follow the instructions in the Microsoft Office Setup Assistant to
finish Setup.

Yes I have deleted everything I could find relating to any version
of office.
Perhaps I should say again these were working fine until last Friday!!
I have created new users so the problem can't be in the user
directory I believe
but in the main system but as to where??????
Or perhaps Microsoft have expired word : ))

follow, and someone may have extra ideas well.)
Had a Google search for Word crashing errors, and found this, which
might be
of help.
I could be a conflict with something else left behind of a previous
version,
or it's bringing up a file that is corrupt on each start.
But more so, perhaps something in a folder conflicting amount the Word
versions.
There are a lot of different preference files and folders with
Office, so
you have to make sure to delete or remove them all.
