Hi Roger, This is a very vague memory, from the mists of time! - It therefore may have no relevance at all to you!!
I seem to remember having an unexplained problem with an earlier version of word which I eventually tracked down to the "normal" template which had somehow become corrupted. I got rid of the normal template and word was then fine - it recreated a new default "normal" template and was fine from then on. Of course, if you have modified your normal template you will lose those changes - but I'm expecting that would be a much lesser inconvenience :) If you save the normal template elsewhere (I'd go for a removable thumbdrive or similar so MS can't go looking - but that's just me!) you can replace it if it turns out not to be the problem. As I say, I don't really remember all the details from when I had the problem - but it may be worth a try! HTH Neil -- Neil R.
