Hi Tim

Have you tried a different keyboard and/or mouse to rule them out as not
being faulty?
Do you have anything else that is plugged into the MacMini as well?
I'd also start trying to look at those things as well, just to rule
everything out, before looking at perhaps other hardware issues.
Also, can try just a clean install of 10.6 and see how it runs, without the
update. 

They would be some other things to try.
