Thank you once again Ronni. I visited my daughter today and carried out your suggestions. All works perfectly now. I reckon the crucial thing was removing Gumtree data.
However whilst I was there I noticed she had upgraded to High Sierra 3 days ago. I had previously advised her not to do this because her iMac is 2010 and her internet speed is terrible. I asked her about it and she said “might have been something I clicked on”. But I noticed that she still had iPhoto in the Dock. When I clicked on iPhoto it was not able to find the Library. So I looked for Photos in the Applications folder …. NOT THERE ! Shouldn’t the upgrade have installed Photos and replaced iPhoto ? > On 4 May 2018, at 1:24 pm, Ronni Brown <[email protected]> wrote: > > Hi Stephen, > > Bit of a tricky issue, especially when none of us are experiencing the > problem. > I don’t know what OS or version of Safari your daughter is running. > > Make sure that "private browsing” is turned off on Safari > https://support.apple.com/en-au/KM204854?cid=acs::applesearch > <https://support.apple.com/en-au/KM204854?cid=acs::applesearch>> > > Safari 11.1 > Check Safari Preferences: > > Security - Web content: ✔Enable JavaScript is selected and Block pop-up > windows is NOT selected > Privacy - Cookies and website data: Block all cookies (is NOT selected) > Extensions - if AdBlock is installed - disable it to test for Gumtree.
