Thank you once again Ronni.

I visited my daughter today and carried out your suggestions.
All works perfectly now.
I reckon the crucial thing was removing Gumtree data.

However whilst I was there I noticed she had upgraded to High Sierra 3 days ago.
I had previously advised her not to do this because her iMac is 2010 and her
internet speed is terrible.
I asked her about it and she said “might have been something I clicked on”.

But I noticed that she still had iPhoto in the Dock.
When I clicked on iPhoto it was not able to find the Library.
So I looked for Photos in the Applications folder …. NOT THERE !

Shouldn’t the upgrade have installed Photos and replaced iPhoto ?
