Thank you Ronni and Peter.
The issue here is that I cannot find Photos in the Applications folder.
I also cannot find iPhoto Library in the Pictures folder.

I will have to take another look, but I am pretty sure the OS installed is 
10.9.5
And when I clicked on Software Update it said already updated.
I also think I saw a downloaded OS updater sitting in her Applications folder.
What might happen if I run that updater again ?

Gee … this is hard being half an hour from where this Mac is located.
I may go back there tomorrow for another look.
