Agreed. However if you have seen the news from Novell regarding their take on the product the main bit from Google is OT. A rest interface and all is nice.The ability for Gadgets and agents is good. But much of this type of functionality is available in other forms, or could be easily done without this particular product.

I just question weather it would be percieved as being worth the bother without OT (It is the secret sauce). Also to dramatically change the code base would possibly devalue the work by those who have been forging ahead with this codebase. Once again just my .02€ ...
